By now Swine Flu is barely in the top ten trends list on Twitter, and talk has dulled to a hush. But I just couldn't pass this up. Birmingham(UK) rapper Mike Skinner who is better known by The Streets continues to give away new music. After he treated fans to a handful of unreleased recordings via Twitter. In this case, it's a song mocking the swine flu outbreak recorded his swine flu song and a clip to go with it. The track is called, "He's Behind You, He's Got Swine Flu". Every scene in this video was painstakingly recreated using classic zombie footage as inspiration. Also the exact film stock was used and even transferred onto the relevant home viewing format before editing.
I thought this was perfect for what he was trying to accomplish, which was making a Swine Flu parody. Either way worth a look and good for a laugh. Skinner is quick to add that "nothing I do right now has anything to do with the label. They would not condone what I am doing."

John Lennon: The New York City Years

At the Rock and Roll Annex in NYC, “John Lennon: The New York City Years,” an exhibition of memorabilia that opens on Tuesday(May 12th) and provides a glimpse of the nine years he lived in the city, from 1971 until his death in 1980. The show offers a good overview of his creative world, with examples of his art (drawings and collages, some never seen before), video clips of his performances and, most crucially, a collection of lyric sheets and production notes that, if you look closely at Lennon’s changes, additions and annotations, tell a lot about his working methods and his ways of thinking about music. A DJ With No Arms...Seriously
What you see is what you get over here at "Funk In Your Trunk". When I came across this twitter message from hipsterrunoff, I was intrigued and a bit weirded out at the same time...

"Hispter Runoff" author Carles had this to say,"Apparently the DJ's name is Pascal Kleiman, and while he can’t do all of the things that fully-abled DJs can do, he has what it takes to bring the joy of love, music, and dance to people all around the world." You can't argue with that my friends, so be thankful for you have been given, and stop complaining about meaningless things that happen to you. Because it can always be worse, lets all just pray it doesn't.
And here is the rest of it. Read more

Although the video is quite bizarre and reminds me of Disney's Alice in Wonderland, I can't help myself from bouncing to the beats. Hands down this is a treat to snack on. Big Red

The month of May always seems to have a tendency to fly by, while your body yearns for the summer sun. Taking it all in one step at a time, I am looking forward to all that June has to offer. One thing in particular is the self-titled debut LP from London based electro-pop "synth duo", La Roux. The album is set for release June 29th on Polydor.
Recently, La Roux released music video's for "Quicksand" and "In for the Kill", both of which will be featured on the upcoming album. Here is their newest video for the "Bulletproof" single. Already known for having wild style, this one puts the icing on the cake. Breaking away from what many perceive as normal, the video truly matches with the largely influenced 1980's pop sound that is La Roux.
For anyone intrigued and wants more La Roux and Mad Decent's remixes of "Quicksand"... Mad Decent's remixes of La Roux's "Quicksand"
La Roux is made up of the Brixton songstress and synth player Elly Jackson, and co-writer and producer Ben Langmaid. The flame-haired singer has been doing quite well for herself on the UK charts these past few weeks, hovering a few places away from number one. La Roux has been getting love from a variety of artists such as Zinc, Likelike, Hostage, The Twelves, and L-Vis 1990 to name a few.
The most popular single "In For The Kill" was remixed by prominent dubstep producer Skream, which debuted at number 11 on the UK Singles Chart on 22nd March 2009. Jackson recently talked about the success of "In For The Kill", why she's tired of the 80's, and the video for her new single, "Bulletproof". Read more
